need advice fast

today im going to look at a new motor for my old ford. the ford right now has a low mileage (i'm told) 360 in it. a guy i know is strapped for cash and is selling off all his car stuff. He's got a 460 out of a 1973 lincoln that he wants to get rid of. the motor is complete except for the carb, which he had someone buy. the motor has the manifolds, and the started. the motor is suppose to be out of a car that only had 60some thousand original miles. i know i've got some stuff to do to swap this motor in, but i was hoping that the 460 from the lincoln will work and if 250$ is a fair price for this motor. i think it is, but if anyone wants to tell me i can't use the lincoln 460, speak up quick so i dont waste the cash, i dont need anymore junk i cant use.

You can swap it in though there is some modifications to the truck that have to be made to make it fit. Do a search to find more info. For $250.00 though I would say it is a good deal and you could sell it for that if you decide not to use it.

well, i know i have to make the basic mods that come with any 460 swap (the motor mounts, bell housing, and clutch to name a few). But i guess my question is, is this motor out of the lincoln going to involve the same stuff that would be involved if i pulled a motor from a ford truck that came with a 460?

youll be alright motor wise highboy....the only real thing youll have to swap on the motor will be oil pan and oil pump pick up...youll need to go to the rear sump but other than that just basic swap mods like you mentioned ...i was thinking about the same swap for my 78 351m to 460 and i was going to use a 460 out of a 72 lincoln so youll be ok man motor wise...i hope i helped a little............oh yea other mods youll need to buy or fab would be the accessory brackets..power steering alternator and such from what i understand if i am wrong someone will correct me but i believe thats it

you will have to get a different tranny if you have an automatic, if you have a manual you can change the bellhousings. An auto from a 351/400 429/460 will work. Motor mounts will have to be changed, otherwise i think you would be good.

Dont forget to put some space inbetween your bellhousing and block...about 7/16'' worked for me.
