rear axle code

I have a 1979 f150 2wd. the code on the door says my axle is
a 16x. but, according to the list there is no 16x. just 16! can anyone elaborate?

I would say that the X is for something else. Axle codes are either 2 numbers for open or a letter and a number if LS.

I don't think it does, I know it does.

Ford calls it: Adjustable steering column.

BTW<> The Letter is part of the code for LS axles
as in : H2 - H4 - H6 - etc,
