my last truck, 97 f150 4x4 4.6 i spent big $$$ on all the performance stuff with very little results. i put the jba stainless headers with gibson stainless cat back, i think i lost power with that. had the kn fipk. ford dealer tech said it was sucking in to much hot air and losing hp. had a hyperchip if fried my comp had to replace. only performance gain that was worth the money and time to install was the 4.10 gears. and B&M shift kit.

now you can learn from my mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green fluorescent paint.

Coffee can exhaust tip.

Curb feelers.

Fuzzy dice.

Neon ground effects.

Type "R" badging.

Silly Japenses jiberish letters across the hood...sideways.

20 series tires that stick out the wheel wells a 1/2 foot.

Increase your camber on the rear wheels so that you only ride on
the inside 2" of your rear tires.

Racing seats with stock belts.

Dual blade, chrome windshield wipers.

A bigass ****** wing on the back. Don't paint it though...

Neon wiper fluid dispensers.

A sound system with only subwoofers so that your ears can bleed. To hell with dynamics in music!

Spinners.

Oh...and cheap clear taillights.

Start wherever you want. I didn't number them.

Monsta, you forgot the big fist air freshener stuck to the top of the dash and the bent radio antenna to pick up the tunes for the sub!

Ok, ok, ok. I'll save my $ and work on my 76 Camaro instead. Oops, did I just say that I have a non-Ford product?

Yeti,
A Ford Focus?!?!?!?
Did you keep it in the back of the truck and use it as a spare?

I bought it right after I got divorced, thought I was doing the "responsible thing, by getting a "family" car.

My kids hated it and I felt like Abendx, so I traded it in on my 250

where to start customizing

Maypo,

As for mods... (sorry to diverge from Yeti's grievances about his old Focus )... If you want to hold off on chips/tuners, etc., then I would start with some auxillary lighting. Aux backup lights, running board lights, aux driving lights (maybe mounted on a bull bar ), and cab clearance lights. Great functionality, along with the "look-at-me effect, if you do a lot of night driving. Or maybe get a bed liner (from what I've read, X-line is the favored one around here.) A last suggestion would be a big ol' air horn (check cwb's setup in his gallery, it's sweet).

Just a few suggestions,
Ryan

Ryan,
Thanks! I like the idea of lights.
Cheap and easy to do. I can sneak those into the budget no problem......
I like the horn too. My juvinile temdancy to toot the horn as my wife walks infront of the truck makes the kids (and me ) laugh.
Those ideas will keep the "mod bug" in me happy.

Talking

To REALLY feed the juvenile tendencies (must be a common malady !)
try a remote start and when your bud is leaning against the bull bar of the front of the truck like mine was - hit the remote start !!!!

He jumped about 10 feet high...

of course I had to run hard to save myself - but it was funny !

but seriously folk...

take your luggage rack cross bars off b4 they started wearing the paint off !

check my gallery for the same idea I had about lighting...
you can't have enough lights - right ?

backup lamps to 55W
auxillary backup lights 55W each
upgraded dual wiring harness,
PIAA bulbs in the headlamps,
Westin bull bar on the front,
PIAA 520's on the bar...
relocated stock fogs with 9005's on the bar

and still looking for more :-)
