F550 Auto Trans.
Would like to know which auto OD trans is used in the 1999 F550, is it the 4EOD, 4R100, or Allison.
The reason I ask is mine just burned up (with flames) at 33,242 mi. I heard of problems with the E4OD, but have not heard much on the others.

hey bill I was told that your 550 has the 4eod tranny and yes that is about right for it to burn up Our company owned two super duty trucks a 93 and a 94 both with the same tranny one went through 3 tranny and had 100,000 mi the other just got replaced for the first time at 80,000 miles. Of course ford won't admit to any wrong doing but we installed the largest transmission cooler we could fit under there i suggest going to a mack or international dealer to get you will notice a big difference in your fluid Also change the tranny fluid every 15,000 miles I know it seems extreme but the rate their are charging for that tranny it is well worth it
