Cruise control
. I recently rebuilt the entire drive train and replaced most of the suspension (engine, transmision; rear brake cylinders, shoes and bearings; front brake calipers, pads, rotors and bearings; rack and pinion, all tie rods, upper and lower control arm bushings and ball joints, shocks). The van now drives like a brand new van and I would like to keep it that way. There is one annoying problem, however, the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel are not lighted at night. Common sense tells me that these buttons ought to be lighted, but I can't remember if they are supposed to be. Other than that I have no other problem. Horn and cruise control work fine, so I don't think it has anything to do with the infamous clock spring.
Can anyone tell me if these cruise control buttons are supposed to be lighted when the headlights are turned on? If so, can anyone tell me how to replace these bulbs?
Thanks
I take it that Ford decided to go that route rather than fighting the problems of lighting the switches. I guess you just have to memorize the switch locations.
my 91 had a more accurate setting method, and had no air bag, so overall, less buttons to fumble with in the dark.
my 95 has an airbag, so it has horn buttons on each side. I dont know how many times I have blown the horn at innocent drivers on the freeway cause I missed the resume button. also when I set the cruise in my 95 it drops speed a couple mph, so I have to set it a few mph higher than I actually want to go. by the time it slows down and tapers off, its about the right speed. very annoying!
but in both cases the cruise buttons do not light up. sorry!
