info on Dana 60's

info on Dana 60's

i have a 1979 F-250 i need to know where to look to find out exactly what axles and gears the truck came out with originaly. I have located the axle tags and got all of the numbers off of them i just dont know where to look up the info any help would be appretiated.

You can start looking in the 'tech articles' section of this website and look in the 'codes' section there is axle info there, or just post the numbers from your axles here and someone may decode them for you. The ratio should be right on the axle tag. Your truck should have a Dana 60 rear axle and a Dana 44 front axle. Generally, Dana axles have 10 cover bolts and a drain plug in the cover.

i have the number off the tags they are

rear axle
3-54-D8TA-YD
603901-1

front axle
3-54-D8TA-YD
610023-2

if anyone can help with that i would appretiate the help.

Your axles are both Dana 60's with 3.54 gears and open differentials. That info according to the Dana website: www2.dana.com/expert
