Sumoboy, it isn't very hard at all. I'll summarize for you, but you would do very well to research the issue here and in the '61 - '66 forum (but only pay attention to the '65 and '66 issues. '64 and earlier are completely different, and nothing applies.)
I did this exact swap into my '66, so you'll find quite a few questions that I asked with their answers.
Issues you must address are:
1. PS gearbox and steering column compatibility. 3 on the tree will most likely require you to put the shifter on the floor, and change the steering column.
2. Finding the right PS pulley and pump bracket setup for your engine. This become complicated if you have or wish to add A/C.
Usually, the best thing to do is find a parts truck, with the same engine, transmission and other features that you have and/or seek. You can harvest the parts you need, then you can sell others for some profit.
Hey banjopicker-thanks for the reply. I'm going to be getting a new steering column from a later 80s Ford or GM with tilt. On a personal note, my son is a banjopicker playing what he calls old time appalachian music.
