transfer case noise?

I got my truck about 1 1/2 years ago put a clutch and a tranny in it (last owner couldn't drive great) and have had a noise coming from what i found to be the transfer case. It sounds like a grinding but it does not affect acceleration there is no vibration or anything. Could this be a bad bearing or something on the inside? Fluid is good. by the way it's a 1991 f-150 302 w/ mazda five speed

I get a horrible grinding in my tcase at highway speed, when i let off the gas it makes a grinding and when I get back on it it grinds again. I'd assume it to be oilpump failure or the chain is stretched. I'd have it looked at asap, if it's the pump the guts will start burning up quick till everything seizes up.
