Angry Help..Tranny Prob

Ok, have a tough one. 93 XL 351 E40D. Left Yuma Az for a 6 hour drive to Calif. About 4 ½ hours into the drive in stop and go traffic, for about an hour..I pushed on the gas and all I received was engine rev and slipping transmission….Fear!!! Once I started moving all seemed well, but back to stop and go traffic the same slipping transmission. I kept going for about another hour, got to the area I was going to, stopped at a stop sign, shifted it into low and gave it gas…nothing but noise and the truck would not move….Shifted back into drive and the truck moved, got to my hotel parked it, put it in reverse, no go just strain on the engine……Left it there for about a two hours, put it back in reverse, hard strain, pop and it went backwards, shifted back into “D” and it works great now…Drove home the next day..slow and have not had a problem since…Fluid is full…What happened???

sounds like the tranny overheated. check your transmission cooling lines and make sure your fluid is circulating and the lines are not plugged! The fluid is probably burnt so I would at least change the fluid and filter and hope no damage was done.
