i have 1999 F550. the overdrive will not cancel off. i do alot of towing so this is aproblem needing fixed asap. i bought new overdrive switch on gear shift but did not fix. brought it to tranny shop they said it was probably in wiring and did not have time to check it. i took the overdrive switch back off and checked the leads with meter.i read 12 volts with key on at one of the terminals nothing on the other 2. i assume those do not read unless the switch is plugged in. any answers will be appreciated.
Try checking the wireing down where it plugs into the tranny. Dhould be on the left side. Check for loose wiring going into the plug assy and broken insulation. Good luck!
i checked all wiring i could get to . everything seems tight. if i knewwhat wire it was that cancels theoverdrive i could check to see if it is getting power to that wire at the trans.
I think I might have the same problem. When I push mine, the OD off light comes on, but instead of downshifting it goes into the freespooling coast mode. Weird.
problem fixed today. it was broken wires in steering column, replaced overdrive wiring harness which i guess came with new gear shift. cost 150.00 parts & labor.works fine thanks for help.
