I been thinking about getting one also same make with clearance lights built in for my 1996 F350 psd 4x4. The only point that concerns me is drilling into the roof and having it leak water or rust underneath, anyone else out there who has opinions would be appreciated. Sorry I cant answer your questions Ronin4x4 but I would like some opinions also.

Visors are not out they do look nice and besides who are you building this truck for you or your neighbor? A few things to know about mounting these things.
1) Make sure to put some sort of sealant in the hole before putting in the screws, this will stop water leakage.
2) Use a good self tapping bolt, maybe stainless if you can find them and don't drill your holes too big 1/8 is usually enough.
3) Under no circumstances and I mean NO. Do not try to run any kind of bug deflector or hood bra with it. The visor doesn't like the way that the wind hits it off of the deflector and it can, in some cases, rip it right off.
So knowing these few simple rules, visor away, with light or no lights it really doesn't matter. Have fun.

I put mine on myself I found It at a garage sale for 40 bucks and it had never been put on anything no holes drilled or nothing I got some of these cool dodads from my local napa where you drill a larger hole stick these in and the use a 3/8 bold that threads into them and the expand to creat good holding action I used a healthy amount of clear silicon caulk (think thats how you spell that) to seal up everything during not after the install I havent had one single problem and It looks really nice but be prepared for that thing to take your gas bill to the next level for me it was like 2 mpg less that is the only part about the whole thing that I regret.

had one on my 86 f250 and also a bug sheild, had the truck from 89-95 with no problems, Installed it my self using the screws provided just drill very small pilot hole, Placed Silicon around the screws and never leaked. Installed several others for friends with and without lights and never had a problem.Always were Lund, not sure if there are other companys now or not that make them,, The only thing that may be different with the bug sheilds is back in these days they where straight and not contoured to the hood as the newer ones are today so maybe the newer shield deflect the wind differently.(I like the older style myself) the new ones are a pain to clean under. I have a 04 F250 now and debating to install one on my new truck. I'm hoping it may block some of the sun where it always seems to come in between the visors above the mirror.. matt

you're right, with the old deflectors that were straight, the air went straight up and then over the roof. With the new contoured ones and hood bras with deflectors built in the air moves way different and on some trucks, it hit the visor right on the front. I just say be careful and take your time, it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on your visor and check it for cracks.
