Bad Speed sensor

Hey, I was just wondering what the syptoms of a bad speed sensor would be. My 99 ranger 4x4 has been shifting really weird lately, for instance an occasional shudder into 3rd (auto). Also it occasional lengthens the shift on the 1-2 shift considerably. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Doesn't sound like a speed sensor as much as it sounds like a tranny issue. When is the last time you had the tranny flushed and filled with fresh Mercon V fluid?

I actually just had the tranny flushed recently to try to fix the problem but that didn't work, I also tried the maf and tb clean. I'm stumped.

I've read where harsh 2-3 shifts on the 4R/5R55E can be attributable to an intermediate speed shaft (ISS) problem:

I don't know if your year tranny has one, but it might at least be worth looking into...
