I traded a computer for a 69 f-100. looked like crap, but i fixed her up real sweet and had it painted hawaiian iris, and added some spinner wheels, and made my own headliner to match.. anyhow, I would like ot add power steering from a doner truck any ideas on how this can be done if it can? thanks-Tracey in VA
I hate to say it but the best way to go is find an old saginaw set up out of an old bow tie rig you gotta do a little fab work but they are bullet proof if you get set up right.
I didnt expect it to turn out so good. I'll tell ya i got that paint job complete for $320 at a place called earl sheibs sorta like macco but cheaper. they do body work but if all you want is painted they will do that also. I didnt get any body work done, just sanded preped primered and paint for $320 internet coupon special. it is the second vehicle i have taken there. they have many locations as they are a chain. you should have seen it before i got it done. rusted primer hood, blue body and white top. old flat paint. i have to say for the money they kicked butt and did it in one day in by 7am out by 4pm. sanded, preped, primered, clearcoated, and quartz dried. here is the link to their page.

you may want to check some of the after market dealers ps was available on 2wd trucks in this model line just do a little looking and you should be able to find what you need witout haveing to resort to bowtie junk
I think your best option is to find another '67-'72 parts truck. Take the steering shaft from the column, the gearbox, and the lines and cooler. I bought a new tie rod and drag link from the parts store. Now just remove the old parts and replace with the stuff you pulled from the donor truck.
earle sheibs, haha. sorry can't help thinking of the nutty professor when I see or hear that. Anyway, what is the deal with the centerlink being different than the manual one?
I finished adding power steering to my 70 F250 4x2 this weekend. I removed the complete system from a 1976 F250 4x2. It was a pretty easy install. The only thing that didn't fit correctly was putting my 70 steering wheel on it. I needed to go back and get the 76 wheel. When you find the doner truck take everything. The gearbox, pump, bracket, lines, steer column, steer wheel and all nuts and bolts. Hope this helps you.
Hey pctjk....glad to hear that the power steering unit is an easy install....need to do this to my old 71 in the near future...Concerning the steering wheel from the '76....is the wheel smaller in diameter.....looking to replace my old cracked stock steering wheel as well....Thanks in advance for your reply...
Nomadic....71 Ford custom...360 c.i., three on the tree, and a steering wheel and a seat......!
I wonder if the 75-76 250's have a 3 on the tree though?
and if the linkages will fit. argh Was yours on the tree pctjk?
This is great info you gave us thank you! -Tracey
My truck has the C-6 automatic. Everything fit in just fine. The steering column spline is smaller on the 76 unit. My 70 steering wheel fit but it was not as tight as I would have liked it to be. When I locked down the 70 wheel I could turn the truck ok but I was nervous of having it not fit snugly on the spline. I think you could find the three on the tree but my feeling is that the newer the pickup become the more comfort people desire, so a 3 on a tree is becoming a thing of the past. By the way it took 12 hours for the complete install.

No way! It is alot easier to do it the right way with a Ford setup, just bolt it in! What could be easier? Get a complete p/s from another Ford truck .
