castiron automatic
My buddy has an old t-bird with a castiron auto with a detachable bell housing. What is it and is it worth anything? He thinks it will bolt up to his 400, any chance? The tibird has a 302. Thanks.

The transmission is an FMX. Probably not worth a whole lot due to the fact that they are not that desireable. Mainly because that there is not a lot available for these transmissions. Shift kits, shifters, ect. This could also go hand in hand as well. In its current state, the transmission will not bolt up to a 400, unless the there is the highly unlikely chance you have an early 400 with the small block bolt pattern. I believe you can swap off that bell housing for one that will fit a 400 though.
