there has been some steam comming out of the oil check stick for a while now, and it is starting to rust a little, i am worried about this becasue that means there is water int eh oil, but my radiator level stays the same? whats up with this, i think it might be some kind of gasket problem, but what do i know, thanks for any help you can give
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but either your heads are cracked or your gasket is leaking. There may be numberous other solutions, but these two seem to be the most common.
Are there little clumps/bubbles on the dipstick. If you don't know what I mean, is there a definite difference of what it looks like now versus what it looked like before?
Does the radiator fluid have a sheen of oil on the top of it?
First thing you could do is to pressure check the coolant system. Then get the gaskets and the heads and get a LOT of beer. Then start working on the truck.
While you are in there, I recommend putting in a new thermostat. You might have cracked your heads because of it overheating. Go and spend the extra 11.00 and get a 180 degree thermostat. It is well worth the money.
The oil looks normal, no smell diff or texture diffrence. there are no droplets on the dipstick, it looks the same as always until you get half way up it turns a rusty color., but on the top of it for a while, there was some yello foam stuff, i think it was on the mail cap too. and there is no oil in the radiator wither

I had an old ranger that did the same thing. I thought cracked head, bad PCV, all kinds of logical things. What I found out, after I gave the truck away was this...the cam lobes were worn pretty bad and were causing allot of back pressure in the crankcase. Not saying this is your problem but I would pull the camshaft and take a look.
