Wondering if anyone has had sucess adding a chassis mount fuel tank as well as a spare tire winch ahead of the rear bumper to a 61~66 F-100. I'm thinking saddle tank(s) but need to retain enough room for dual exhaust. Any ideas?
There is an article in the FTE 'tech articles' , believe same, or simular article in the 'classic trucks' magagine with instructions on mounting mustang tank under rear part of truck frame. Would assume this would interfer w/ the tire mount. Probably would need to reroute the exhaust if intend to put the spare tire mount under rear of bed. May also want to run search, topic has come up on occasion with couple member posting pics.
Purchased 65 f100 where previous owner installed gas tanks under front portion of both the driver and passenger side of the bed. Had to cut small portion of the bed for the filler neck on the drivers side. He also cut filler doors for both tanks. Another issue is that he left the tool pocket door but removed the pocket in order to get the passenger side tank to fit. Intend to remove the passenger side tank and reinstall a tool pocket. Also would like to try and come up w/ filler door that would blend in w/ the bed. Never have liked the standard stainless filler plate.
Sorry to ramble on about my wish list, but some issues to consider if installing under front portion of bed. Sure there will be other member who will have additional info, and or suggestions.
Good luck,
dave
