Dual exhaust

Any recommendations on what dual exhaust system to put on my 2000 F250 CC V10 shortbed? Don't have much knowledge in this area, so any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to improve performance, but don't want something that's too loud.

Dual exhaust

I have attached a couple of links from the web that I have used to research exhaust systems that I might want to use on my '99 CrewCab V8. In the past, both have had wav files so you can hear what their exhausts sound like.

Good luck in your search.

Stick a couple flow masters on there and it will sound nice.

Be careful choosing your exhaust. The V10 does not sound like any V8. Most say they sound like 6cyl on steroids. Both Borla and Gibson make a dual exit exhaust for the V10 as do others. I have a single 3" Borla system on my truck. It is just a little louder than stock. I don't think most cat-backs add much power. Maybe 10-15 hp.

I have a 2000 CC Shortbox with the V-10, and I left the exhaust single, and went with a Magna Flow system. Sounds a deeper than stock, hard to tell if it added more horsepower, got about .3 miles per gallon better though Woo Hoo!

Good Luck

I have had many pickups, and upgraded the exhaust on all of them. In all of my years, I have never found it worth the money to buy and aftermarket system. The fact that they have mandrel bends and factory mounting points looks neat in an advertisement, but the initial cost will never be regained by fuel savings. Any competent exhaust shop can make you a supurb system for less than half the price. And if you can honestly say that by just changing the exhaust system on your truck you can feel a performance difference, you are a far better man than I. I have test driven many, many, many exhaust upgraded trucks that the owner swears the performance is better, and I have never been able to tell the before and after. I think people just get caught up in the burly sound and the fact that they now have $400 tied up in it. My SD V-10 is sporting a single inlet/dual outlet 3" Flowmaster with aluminized pipe, exiting behind the rear tires. Total system cost: $198 installed, and I never even looked under the truck.

V-10man is right. I also have a 3" dual exhaust with a Magnaflow on my V-10 and the increase in power will not be noticable. It will sound different, definetly not like a V-8. I have been told by several people that the Magnaflow does not sound near as tinny as the Flowmaster.

Tobyw,

I agreee with ya on the performance gains vrs the added rumble of an aftermarket exhaust. Many confuse the noise with power. It's kinda like sex. Noisy sex is much better than quiet sex.

I installed a Hooker chambered muffler on my V-10 and left the tail pipe stock, cost $135.00 installed, stayed with single exhaust. I like the sound and it has helped the V-10 stay in the power band pulling my 12,000# 5er. Did not change empty mileage at all but added about 1 mpg. average to my loaded mileage.

Dual exhaust

I put the preformance exhaust with dual tips on my long bed crew cab this past summer. I could not tell any power difference, but I did gain about 1 mpg. This was most noticable on our 4500 mile trip to Yellowstone. The pipes are a little loud at 80 mph, but sound great when down shifting my manual trans.
