I 'd like to put a flatbed on a f250 but have never done this.
I'm thinking 7'x9' with a headache rack to prtect the rear window. Are there plans and/or material list anywhere?
I'd like a better way to start then "ripping off the bed and start welding"
I am not looking to start a war here but i have several trucks two of which are Chevrolets. Therefore i belong to a chevy board, www.67-72chevytrucks.com to be exact. If you go there and go on the 67-72 board there is a guy there whose name is Tim a/k/a Dubie who has built one and has quite an extensive picture file and note file on that kind of mod ( albeit for chevrolet trucks) but the principles would be the same i hope this helps you with your project

I am currently building mine from 5x5x 3/16 cross members with 3x1.5 x 1/8 uprights. I might run 1/8 square tube across for the floor. I use 2x10 pressure treated for the floor and sides.
I am notching the 5x5 so it straddles the frame so the bolts holding it down only have to prevent it from moving forward. This will also double as a tiedown for the bed rollbar.
i wa sgoing to build one for my truck but while looking for ideas etc at the local junkyard i got a whole flat bed body for a 125 bucks off a chevy then just custom cut and welded to fit the ford frame. I used oak blocks in between the farme of the flatbed and my truck frame with big ubolts to go around both frames and clamp it togther. this is how a locla truck shop said to do it so the two frames can flex seperatly from each other. theres a pic of the body on my truck in my gallery.
