After reading the "modified version" I came to the conclusion that the original is by far easier for the average person to accomplish. I did the original. cost me $1 for 5 resistors at radio shack. I already had wire, solder, heat shrink, and electrical tape so in essence, I paid $0.20 for the mod. Took about 15 minutes to build (10 minutes was looking the heat shrink, ok, where's my heat gun, where did I put that soldering iron, etc) Then about 1 minute to install it on the truck. Couldn't have been simpler. Well I guess it could have if I wasn't a slob and knew where my tools were. Try the original first, cost you a dollar, if you are satisfied keep it, if not, try the modified. Either way you wont be out much time or money.
Good luck
Mike
Thanks Guys, I already installed it got the resistor from radio shack piece of cake to do and install. Made a difference in power seems like the throttle is quicker idle is a little higher but it seems to go down to normal sometimes and I am checking the milege but so far just around town it is up per the mpg gauge.
Thanks Al
I read in an earlier post that it made the diesel have a rough idle, has anyone found that and what is does anyone think that it would effect the longevity of the motor? Sounds like a cool mod, but are have any ill effects been noticed?
Spitball- As far as the rough idle goes, it does increase your RPMs by about 150-200 and sounds like it has a chop (or big cam) when idleing down. I have found that it settles back down when you come to a complete stop after a second or two. It will give you a better throttle responce and "feel" like it pulls harder. As stated in other posts in this forum, it does wonders for a stock truck but has little to moderate effect on chipped trucks. Hope this answers at least one of the questions. Peace...
Thanks there rock. Been interested in the mod, just like to gather some info before jumping into it. I like for the truck to perform, I want it to last also.
