Does anyone have these tires on their Explorer? How do they ride? I have a 2001 XLT and was thinking about putting these tires on. Are they rough, laud, tread life??? Any other AT suggestions?
Bought them several month ago... love them. The ride will be a little rougher compared to the P rated tires that will be coming off. They are LT tires, so they have a higher load rating. It is not really as bad as some say... IMO... it drives like a truck. I have yet to run a better tire in the snow. As far as tread life... will have to wait an see... but with about 10,000 miles on them... I'd be hard pressed to tell that there is any wear at all. These should last a good 70,000+ with no problem. As for noise... they are very quite and I was pleasntly supprised at that. But then again, this entire post is just my opinion.....
Actually none right now.... am still paying for the truck... but once it is paid off, I plan on doing a little off roading. Oh well.... I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go.........
I have BFG all terrain 32 X 11.5 on my sport trac, it handles alot better in corners, rain, and stopping ability than it did with the stock tires, and looks great!!!!!
I hated mine. They packed up in the snow/mud and liked to hydroplane in 1 - 2"s of rain on the road. I have the Dueler A/Ts now and they are 100% better in every condition on road and are just as grabby off road, but clean out better in mud and snow.
Have 31x10.5's on mine since I bought it 5 years ago. No complaints at all. Actually bfg a/t's are all I prefer to run on my 4x4's. Great on and off road as long as you don't get too crazy in the hills. Granted they aren't a mud terrain tire and don't perform like one but I don't know too many people to take their SUV into the deep muck. But for the majority of people it is more than enough tire.

I've had a set of 235/15R75 BFG AT KO's on my '92 Explorer since 2000, and been very pleased. They are fantastic in the snow (as long as you don't go too wide); don't know how they run in the mud. I'm always driving up to ski areas, and they grip snow and ice better than any other tire I've owned. For a little less cash, the Yokohama Geolandar AT II is a nice tire - I run them on my '01 F-150 4x4.
I do 90% of my driving city/hwy and 10% at the hunting lease. I do not go trailing or mudding. I need a tire that in pretty quiet on the road, but strong enough for West Texas rocks, cactus, and mesquite. Obviously snow in not a conern in Texas, but rain (hydrplaning) is.
I know many people with trucks that have the BFG AT's and they ride good. I was just wondering on a smaller wheelbased Explorer if they ride good on the road and are good in the rain? Some suggested Dueler AT Revo's. They are expensive though.
I have taken my sport trac all over west texas, specifically the desert outside of el paso caving and bouldering and I can tell you that the bfg all terrains have never let me down!!!
I have driven through soft sand, hard rocks, washed out gullys and arroyos and pulled yucca thorns out of them that flattened the 35" swampers I had on my toyota!!!!!!
If you are driving on and off the road anywhere in west texas or new mexico then the bfg all terrain is the tire to have on your truck!!
