Tranny noise

Don't you love when we post things like "making noise"? Having said that, I have a 94 XL 351 E40D. Within the past two weeks I've noticed a noise that sounds like a loose bearing/rattle that is especially loud around 15 mph and right after it downshifts into first. The other symptom that just started is after the truck is warm, if I put it in park or neutral and shift back to drive it stalls. Any ideas?

Sounds like rebuild time to me. My first Bronco did that whole stalling routine too, plus it was missing its OD, rebuild fixed it right up.

And ouch, E4OD is EXPENSIVE to rebuild!

I paid $1600 but I haven't talked to another person who's gotten off that cheap. Just about all say they paid over $2000.

I have a shop here in Hunstville, AL that will rebuild with new cat converter for $1200. Sounds like I'll stay in the area if a rebuild is in order.
