I usually mount them just to the right of your removable panel below the cubby hole in a Super Duty. Or you can get fancy and drill a hole large enough for the wires/plug to pass through in the back of the cubby hole and mount it in there, just make sure you can still adjust it and use the manual override.

I would put it in the cubby hole
i had one on the lower panel in my 99 wife kept hitting it (short legs)
in my 00 I have a manual trans case so i cant put it below the cubby hole so i think i am gonna put it in there unless i think of something better
