Spitty
Painless is the way to go, hence the name. Great product, easy to work with, put one in my '52 and '53 also used one in my '87 Short box that had a fire. Those guys are real good at building what you want if you ask
I am also going to rewire my 48 F1 in the very near future. I am going to keep as much stock as possible. Check on painless performance products web site and order a catalog. They also have product catalog on line. You can buy direct from painless but you pay retail price. you can also get a list of their distributors on their web site. Auto Zone seems to be their major distributor so you could go to local store and ask questions.
IMHO, you want to do as much research as possible before you go to your Auto Zone store, none in my area seemed to know much about the Painless product, I guess they don't sell many around here.
Most retail stores usually hire clerks who don't know a whole lot about what they are selling. The one closest to me seems to be ok but time will tell when i do my truck.
Thanks John,
That is the way i am leaning also. I understand they have good directions and good tech help.
I hope to do it this summer.
This is my first attempt at fixing up an old vehicle so i need all the help i can get and good instructions on things i buy.
I like the product from American AutoWire. It look to be very well made product. I have not seen the kits up close but looks to be one of the best out there.
I once went into a chain auto parts store (name withheld to protect the stupid) and asked for valve cover gaskets for a small block C***y and the asked me if it was a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder
The bad part was it was the manager, They then asked me for the application cause we have to find it in the computer first of course. So I told him what the motor was in...A 92 Suzuki Samurai, for some reason they didn't stock v8 valve cover gaskets for a Suzuki, and to top it off I intially asked for the Gasket for a Ch**y and he never caught on to the fact I had him looking for a Ch**y gasket in a Suzuki. I then pityed the ignorant and told him a random truck so he would get it.
