i have a 93 f-150 with the 4.9L I6. when i am between 20 ad about 35 or so the engine wants to bog down like its getting to much gas i guess but i dont know what the problem is ive changed the fuel pressure regulator, and wires, plugs, rotor and cap and it still does it, also both of my fuel pumps in both tanks are whining i guess you could say why would they do that other than them going bad? oh and my truck has 157, 000 miles on it.
Check you throttle body and intake manifold gaskets. While the veicle is idling, spray staring fluid liberally on the gaskets. If it changes the idle it means you have a leaking gasket. As for the gas smell, it could be a leaking fuel injector, or it could be the computer reacting to the extra airflow from the vac leak.
Oil that smells like gas doesn't mean blowby. It means unburned gas, which means too rich. There is something wrong with your EFI, or a bad sensor, probably the O2 sensor.
