Question why is this happening??

i have a 93 f-150 with the 4.9L I6. when i am between 20 ad about 35 or so the engine wants to bog down like its getting to much gas i guess but i dont know what the problem is ive changed the fuel pressure regulator, and wires, plugs, rotor and cap and it still does it, also both of my fuel pumps in both tanks are whining i guess you could say why would they do that other than them going bad? oh and my truck has 157, 000 miles on it.

is it when it is wet out? or is it all the time?

my rear fuel pump has always been quite a bit louder than the front one. It's audible over the exhaust.

I would look into the EGR... Fixed my problem pretty good.

There's quite a few posts about the EGR causing hesitation or bucking, if you search, you're sure to find plenty.

good luck!

that would be blow by... and that would not be a good thing. You could have a little more trouble then just an egr valve.

blow-by is pressure escaping past the piston rings.

The way to stop it is a rebuild

I would do a compression test before i labeled it as blow-by.

yeah a compression test would prove that it is or isnt, but gas smelling oil is a good indication

Check you throttle body and intake manifold gaskets. While the veicle is idling, spray staring fluid liberally on the gaskets. If it changes the idle it means you have a leaking gasket. As for the gas smell, it could be a leaking fuel injector, or it could be the computer reacting to the extra airflow from the vac leak.

Oil that smells like gas doesn't mean blowby. It means unburned gas, which means too rich. There is something wrong with your EFI, or a bad sensor, probably the O2 sensor.
