I saw an awesome headlight conversion kit that had projector lenses and integrated fog lights. Does anyone have any experience with such a kit. I like the stock turn signals and side markers but I would like to update the headlights on my 2000 SD V10 CC.
yeti, i was thinking of getting some of those myself, are thoes the APC's. what is the configuration of the lights in them, looks like a seperate high. low beam and a fog(i would guess you would have to wire the fog). will the stock plug work for the high/low. what bulbs do they use...just tell my everything
Yes they are APC, and since they didn't include any instructions other than a picture of what you have to cut out of the core support behind the original light, lets see....
This is what it says:
"This conversion comes with a new harness that adapts the stock 9007 bulb, over to 9006 low beam and 9005 high beam, and also a seperate switch for the fog light part of the unit.
The harness looks to be pretty good quality, laid out nice with inline fuses, etc.

Oh Mama!
Looking sweet Yeti.
How much and where do you find them?
I have been looking and my local vendor said he called APC and they told him not yet for an 04 conversion.....

I looked on this site, motorhaven, but they did not offer them for our trucks, so I had to do what I had to do....
Careful, some people are charging as much as $400 for these things...
Hey Yeti, do you know if i upgrade to those from XL package lights, do i need any other housing pieces from Ford or is it a slap-it-in project?
I ask b\c the XL lights are so different from the XLT and up jewel style lamps.
Oh, i looked through your gallery and i noticed that you must wax\polish the underside of your hood? Good one..
Ok, i tracked them down.
The application says for 99-02 Excursion.
Is that the same for an 04 SD truck.
I'm inclined to say yes but i'm not sure ........
Anyone know?
I just installed these lights about a month ago...You definitely want to upgrade the bulbs. The stock bulbs really stink... If you do upgrade them, do it before installing the fixtures on the truck. Unless you cut out the entire backing, you can't get to the lights once installed.
FYI... I used a dremel tool with a multipurpose cutting bit, and it cut through the fiberglass like butter...
It creates alot of dust, so wear eye protection and a respirator...
Also....And this is the big one!!!! You definitely need to put clear silicone around the entire housing, where the glass seals to the plastic. The factory sealing leaves alot to be desired. Mine had condensation in 3 days after installation. Had to remove them, and put the silicone on...
Just thought I would try to help...
P.S. I hope to get the truck washed this week, and have new pics in my gallery by the weekend...
Let me know if you need any other tips...I pretty much mastered it after having to remove them and reinstall them so quickly...
Thanks for the info bddo, now that I know that theres is a seal problem, Im not so sure I want to stick them in.....
Dremel tool sounds perfect to me!!
I`ve been running them for 2 years now with no problems. Yes you will have to add silicone sealer to the seams and I also put in silver stars before I mounted them.
