Bigger Brakes?

Hi I was wondering if anybody has heard of bigger brake kits or anything to that effect for an Aerostar. I want it for towing purposes. Thanks

What year?
I know that when I replace the back shoes on my 90 I need to tell them I need 10in dia, 2.5 in wide. (have it written down on the inside cover of my chiltons).
Also a note in chiltons states that the 4th digit in the VIN specifies brake system capacity/GVWR. My "digit" is a 'C' which puts the limit at 5,000 lbs
Don't know if that helps or not.

If the brakes on your trailer are big enough, then the size of the brakes on your tow vehicle is not an issue.

I was referring to the front discs on all Aerostars. I think they are 10" diameter. I recently replaced mine with rotors for 1992 and up models with the directional vanes. They are still working smoothly, which is something new for me to experience.

The original and first set of replacements I got would warp pretty easily when I have to apply the brakes on long down hills. The front rotors do over 80% of the braking, and the design on this van is just way too insufficient to safely stop the vehicle repeatedly. Furthermore, the caliper is part of the spindle, so it's impossible for you to change out the rotor to a bigger model and move the caliper to a new home.

I think one needs to be adventurous and go to one's local scrap yard to find larger brake and spindle parts off of another vehicle and test fit or modify them to fit on the Aerostar.
