Belt Question
I have a 94 3.0 XL and recently I changed the two belts due to the old ones being cracked and visually in bad shape. The old belts came off with no problem. I put the new ones on and tighten the belts by just feel. I allowed a very small amount of slack. I noticed that the new Power Steering belt would not stay properly seated on the P/S pulley. It would keep riding on the edge of the pulley and somewhat buckle. I was able to correct this problem temporarily by just lightly pushing the belt over as the engine was running. It would stay seated for a while and then jump the seating again and ride the edge of the pulley. My question is...could this be caused by not properly making the proper Torque adjustments when I first installed the new belts. I'm also having the same problem with the alternator belt. Any ideas as to correct this problem. Thanks.
