I always thinks positive when I have that problem.

1) First thing I would do is put 1 quart of Gunk Motor Oil Flush along with the oil in the crankcase. Start the engine for 5 minutes at IDLE. Turn the engine OFF. Drain the oil and remove the oil filter. Let it sit dripping for a couple minutes. Put new oil and oil filter. Test the engine.

If problem persists,

2) I would go ahead and replace the oil pump, oil pump strainer/filter and clean the gunk/debris in the oil pan. Go back to step 1).

We have some similar issue with your truck before https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=183824

Replacing the oil pump and oil sender are not expensive. Do it yourself instead.

Slade901 is right!

Diagnose and fix yourself. Rapping kinda tells me the oil sending unit to the gauge ain't lyin' but try the gunk trick, you may be surprised with the results.
