Unhappy 351M missing at light excelleration

I'm stumped. I have a 1978 F-150 with a 351M that misses during light excelleration. I have replaced the plugs, wires, computer module, fuel filter, distributor cap & rotor, put a carb kit in it, and taken all of the uneeded vacuum hoses off. I'm wondering if I need to jet it down. It has #57 jets in it and I'm at 1400 feet in elevation. Any suggestions?

You might check the vacuum and mechanical advances in your distributor.

did you check the correct vacuum hose routing? you said you pulled everything unneeded off, so be sure that you haven't crossed paths anywhere. also: base timing, fuel pressure, air intake? (may be dumb, but my Dad always said "check the simple s*** before you throw money at it.)
