I am one of those people with the snow plow prep package on the 2003 F-250 Ext Cab 4X4 5.4L. I love the level unloaded look/ride but I carried a load of oak in my truck this past weekend that took the backend right down to the bump stop. It also happens when I put my Harley Fatboy back there. I have had enough of looking at that so I am doing the following.
I am installing a Tuff Country 2" Add-a-leaf to the rear of my truck. I am also installing new Rancho 9000 RSX Shocks (front and back) and a stabilizer replacement.
Hopefully this will keep my 1/2 ton buddies from breaking my ballz.
Can someone tell me what I am supposed to torque the new u-bolts down to? Also the lug nuts? Shock Bolts?
Anything else I need to watch for or install suggestions appreciated.
Have been thinking of doing something for the rear of my 2001 F 250 4 wheel also. Sits level but any substantial weight in the back and it really squats down. The truck came with the added single leaf overload-helper spring. Should I get another leaf put in the helper springs? Seems like that wouldhave the least effect on the truck when its used without much load in the bed. The way it is now, when I put the softsided popup camper in and hook up the boat( 16ft. alum. fishing boat/ the headlights shine in the tree tops. Is there an adjustment for headlights that owners can do or is that a job that the truck needs to go in for? Thanks for any help and suggestions. Ken

I installed air bags on my F350 rides great and level unloaded when I load it up just squirt some air in the bags. I can level it back out with my goosneck trailer connected and it is putting 2500 pounds on the truck.

Headlights are easy to adjust you just need a torx T15 or T20. Just pop the hood, not hard to figure out.

No doubt the aitbag solution is excellent for all occaisions. It is a little more expensive and requires ajustment for load. Rides better also.
I do think though that $50.00 for an 2" add-a-leaf solution would work pretty well also. Especially when combined with a stiffer shock. I don't mind a stiffer truck ride. Now the two together (shocks and add-a-leaf) gets you in the price range of the mentioned airbag solution. Of course the airbags are capable of more.
Decisions decisions decisions..I will let you know how I make out and post a photo if you want.
I just did the 2 inch Tuff Country add a leaf to the rear of my F250... Easy install. Took about 1.5 hours by my self.
There won't be any more squatting after you add them.. I pulled a trailer with it today and I don't think the rear end moved. It is supposed to add about 800 pounds of payload to the rig.
With that and my lift I went to hook up my trailer today and the itch wasn't even close. I had to go get a 12 inch drop hitch and that was still almost not enough...
I just took a look at the existing OEM leaf pack on the truck and I noticed a clip that apparently holds the leafs together. Do I reuse this clip when I install the add-a-leaf? Is there room for the add-a-leaf under that clip? It looks like it wraps around the leafs.
