4X4 light staying on
I am having a problem with my 4X4 and Low geat lights staying on. Just to let everyone know, I have to use 4 wheel drive to get in and out of my drive this time of year (mud). When I leave home and the truck is still cold, the light will go out, but when I get home, or the truck is warm, that's when the lights stay on. If I just put it in 4 hi then that light just stays on, but if I use 4 lo, then they both stay on. If I let the truck cool down for a few moments, then they're off (I always put it back it 2 hi when I park it no matter when or where I park it). Anyone have an idea? Can't find anything in the hayne's manual. Thanks

I would probably try replacing the 4x4 lockout switch on the transfer case. It is on the front of the transfer case above the front driveshaft. I'm not sure why they call it the lockout switch but that's what Ford calls it. It is the switch that sends the gear position signal to the light on the dash. When you remove the switch see if there is any moisture in it. If there is you should also replace the transfer case oil. Actually if the oil hasn't been changed before it might be a good idea anyway.
