I am new to this site and I am also new to the ford.I have recently purchased a 99 f150 5.4l and I have notied that when I open an oil fill cup I see some white sludge what ever you can call it on that cup. Is that mens i got head gasket problem?
Any info will be preciated
Some slight white condensation is somewhat normal for the engine, to much like you said sludge may not be good. I would try to flush the stuff out by changine oil and filter, run the engine for a little while, driving or idling, and then change the oil and filter again. if it still has the condensation in it you may have a problem.
Do you make lots of short trips every day or do you travel alot?
Is is cold where you are?
Also how many miles are on the truck that may help to diagnose the problem.
By the way welcome to the forum and FORD.
with some more info it will be easier to diagnose.
