35 pickup engine swap

35 pickup engine swap

I found a 35 ford pckup no engine or trans. I want to put a 289 or 302 in it any major mods other than motor mounts ?

Quite a few. We're putting a 302 in our '41 and mods had to be made for the tranny plate, the A arms had to be repositioned, you'll have to put regular shocks on the front to keep the motor from tilting the truck when you give it power, the pitman arm had to come from a specific year car, the headers had to be shortened and the firewall had to be moved back 3 inches.

We got a kit specifically for installing the 302 in a 40-41 from a place called Chassis Engineering. They told us what parts were needed down to what late model car to get the pitman arm from in order to fit in the limited space.

Those are just the ones I can remember. I'll have to check with Steve to see if I left anything out.

It will all be well worth it once we can put it on the road. We're still waiting on me to finish the paint & bodywork. Too much to do and too little time.
