Tell you the truth, 8" seems perfect for me on my truck, it's actually a couple inches lower than my tubes were.
Only fell out twice before I got use to them.
Tell ya another thing, we just got 10" of snow last night and they collect it pretty good, I had little icebergs hanging off of them when I was done plowing.
thanks for the info guy's. When I showed the link to LOML she went "OOOO-good". With that stamp of approval it's a forgone conclusion that a set will probably be THE FIRST accessory going on my new F-350. Hope there's a market for OEM running boards on ebay.
You also might want to look into the AMP Research Powerstep. They are the full length of the cab and are more like a running board. When the door is closed the are hidden up under the cab, but when you open the door the come down and out.
yeah - that looks even better as a step. Not much helpful info for consumer on the web page though - like how much and who sells them and who can install them?
I just called them a little while ago. You can get them from ford or a number of other shops from what I was told, dunno. The set of them should sell for about $1200, not including installation. Hope that might help.
