08 Superduty Vs Kodiak
Well Guys I Am New Here. Not Here To Start Any Wars. I Have A 06 Chevy Kodiak 4500 4x4, But I Love The New 450. I Havent Had Any Problems With It I Am Just Thinking Of Getting Rid Of It And My 06 2500 Duramax, and Thinking Of Buying The 450 4x4 To Do The Job Of Both Trucks. The 2500 Wont Pull My Trailer But Its Nice To Drive Daily And The Kodiak Is To Big To Drive Daily. My Toughts Were Buy The 450 Cause Its Like Driving A Reg Dulley But Still Could Pull My Trailer. My ? Is How Do Does The 450 Compare To The 4500 (weight Of Truck, Brakes, stability Etc) Thank U For All Your Help

How heavy is your trailer?
Too heavy for your duramax?
Well with the F450 and 4.88 gears total gcwr is 33,000 and
towing (fifth/goose)is 24,500 2wd or 24,000 pounds with f450 4x4
Kodiak4500 16,000-17,500/ max 24-26,000
Sounds like you may want to buy a F4504x4 so you can tow your trailer and also use that F450 4x4 as your new daily driver in all weather extremmes on and offroad ; apparentely unlike your duramax and kodiak you can have 1truck as a daily driver that can meet your towing needs too ,while fitting in physically and sociably at your local parking lot shopping plaza..
Good luck and Bravo for your new interest; hope it meets your expectations Take care and good motoring Johnny B ..

The F450 is actually rated to pull more weight than your 4500 (24,500 vs 17,500). I have a medium duty freightliner (FL60) and can say there is no comparison in ride quality. The 08 F450 is the best of both worlds...I have a pickup that can pull my 21,800 GVW horsetrailer with all the amenities to go along with it.

Well The Kodiak Alone Is 11500 And Truck And Trailer I Am At 39000,ive heard of guys pulling almost that with a 350 dulley. I Was Just Hopeing It Could Do It Being That They Always Under Rate The Towing Numbers. And After Everyones Replies I Might Being Going To The Ford. Thanks Guys. And i think the 24500 is the towing rating(not including truck weight) for the ford and the 17500 is the kodiak weight with the trailer on the truck it self (not towing weight)

Also Johnny, check out the tech folder about the brakes. If I remember correctly, the F450 has 14.5 inch brakes on the front, and 15.5 inch brakes on the rear with 19.5 inch steel wheels all the way around. This is the same brakes as the F-550. Should be great stopping power with that. Joe B.
