I just ordered 2 inch add-a-leaf leveling springs for the front of my F350, I am pretty sure that they did not come with a track bar relocating bracket. My friend has an F350 and bought the same springs as me but paid $270 whereas I paid $70 but he got the track bar relocating bracket. He says I will need the bracket but I have heard that you don't. His bar right now is parrallel to the ground and it looks like the right front sticks out from the fender and the left front is even with the outside edge. Thus making me think the track bar is now pushing his axle over. Does anyone think I need to get a track bar bracket?
Thanks
The bracket may not be a must but it will def help eliminate bump steer. I had my front springs re-arched to level the truck when it was new by 1 1/2" and did not drop the track bar, there was a slight amount of bump steer and it shifted the axle over about a 1/4", alignment was not effected. Ran like that for over 6 years no probs.
Did you get the rough country leveling kit? The add a leaf system,,, 1 spring for each side? That is the exact kit i have in mind,,Just still researching ,,seems the way to go really, especially the price.. I heard it was a real CHORE to get the bracket back on after installing the leafs, but havent heard anyone say anything about bump steer till now.I am on trhe verge of ordering this system, have also heard mixed comments about the ride after the kit,,,have heard no difference, and then slightly more harsh but hardly noticeable. I like the add a leafs way better than the hanger lifts, Have heard so many horror stories about hangers breaking that I dont even wanna go there. Will this add a leaf kit really give us 2" of lift? 2" in front will make my truck real close to perfectly level, and thats what i am after..Let us know how this goes,, i am very close to ordering this exact kit,,Tips for installation would be very much appreciated..!!!!!!!
I am getting the add-a-leaf system put on this next wednesday. Mine are from BDS and the shop I'm getting them from says I don't need the track bar relocating bracket. I will let you know what I find out when i get them on wednesday. I paid $75 for the leaves and $75 to get them put in.
I just put a front add-a-leaf kit on my truck yesterday - I gained right at 1 1/2" and I didn't do anything else to the front end. No difference in steering or anything and a good firm ride - but not stiff or uncomfortable.
cat_man i have the same truck as you only mine is a early 99'
PSD i too am considering installing add a leafs to mine, was it
difficult putting them on? did you have to change anything after
the slight lift? any replies appreciated
I had 2 buddies helping me and I did it in an hour - but it's not the first time I did this kind of thing. It would be really hard to do it by yourself - it's hard to get everything lined back up. If you've never done it before I'd give yourself a half-day just to be safe - but it's not incredibly difficult.
I did not change anything else like steering or anything - just the leaves.
has anyone seen these 2-2.5'' add a leafs for the front? i think i saw them one rockymountainsuspension i believe they were
skyjacker brand. The question i have is will they really raise the
front of my heavy a** ps diesel at least 2'' s maybe 2.5'' s ?
Well I put in the leaves yesterday, took me about 2 hours. The driver side was easy to line back up but the passenger side was a little tough due to the track bar. I had to take off my brake calipers on both sides to get the axle to drop far enough. Other than that it was easy and the ride is great. I got a full 2.25 inches of lift out of them.
You just added the single rough country add a leaf? Sounds like turned out good, you have a diesel? 2 1/2" would be percect for my truck. Guess i'll get off my but and go order some right quick,, Appreciate the info for sure.
As a non-PSD owner (unfortunately) will these same springs be too stiff? Also I'm thinking the diesel springs will lift the front more, is that safe to assume?
I believe the Rough Country Add A leaf is the same for all 250-350 regardless of motor, Which should mean that you would get more lift out a truck with a gasser. That is why i was wondering if boss had a powerstroke or a gasser, Best I've heard with a diesel and those leafs is about 1-7/8"...
