Need Tire Advice
I own a 2000 F250 SD CC LB 2WD V10 and would like to replace the stock General LT235\85R16\E tires. I would like to replace the tires with something wider and at least as tall as the current tires. Prefer to stay in the E or D load range for any replacement. What is the largest tire (at comparable load rating) that I can put on the factory rim (without worrying about rubbing), and which manufacturer should I go with? I have called around to a few tire shops but nobody seems certain what tire or size to go with. The truck is used as a daily driver (highway) and to pull a 30ft travel trailer (approx 9,500 # - 800# tongue weight). Any recommendations or experience appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The simplest upgrade is the 265x75x16 size. They are within a 1/2 inch diameter of your old tires(depending on brand) and 1" wider. You shouldn't see any loss in performance with these. The next larger size is 285x75x16. These are about 1" bigger all the way around than the 265's. Your speedometer will be off slightly with these but you can have that adjusted. Many people like the BFG tires or Michelins. Check out www.tirerack.com for other options.
