I am stranded out of town and I keep getting a dead battery. I figured out that the wires got ripped out of the alternator and I can't find where they were supposed to go. Can I run a postive from the ALT. straight to the battery and a negative straight to the frame?? Will this charge my battery and is it safe enough for a 200mile trip home?? Thanks so much for any advice!
I've got to get this done asap, I'll make sure that a voltage regulator is hooked up before the cable is taken to the battery..but will it work or won't it??
From NAPA you can buy any connector, with the wires attached, to fit almost any American car or truck. They cost from $11-$18. You can buy connectors for the voltage regulator too. Sometimes Autozone has them, sometimes not.
You can buy cheap crimping tools, wire strippers, and connectors at Autozone for about $10.00 Total cost to get you going, under $30.00.
