I am in the process of shopping for a 141" 4X4 S/C with a 5.4, 3.73. auto. I test drove my first Superduty last Sunday. I found the truck was awesome except there was allot of steering wheel vibration at highway speed 65 or 70. I'm not expecting a ride of Lincoln but is this typical of the Superduty's? I drove the truck about 15 miles, 5 or 6 was on the highway. The dealer said the truck had been sitting for 4 weeks and there could be flat spots on the 265 Firestone's. Has anybody else experienced this? Thanks for any input.
Flat spots, huh? That salesman sounds like a real rocket scientist. I have had two Superdutys, one with the same tires, and they never had any vibration. They often sit idle a couple weeks. Have several friends with Superdutys, and they have never had this problem. If I were you, I would look at another truck, or tell the salesman to come up with a better reason than "flat spots."
i picked up my truck on saturday 3/3/2001, f250 xlt sc v10 auto 8'bed, 3.73 gears and it drives like a lincoln. test drive a different super duty, one thats only been sitting for 3 weeks. ha ha,
I have '99 SD 350 CC 4x4 LWB PSD and have never experienced any steering wheel vibration. It doesn't drive like a Lincoln BUT I would NEVER trade it for one!! Love every minute of my little bit noisy - little bit bumpy ride!
Carole.
It could be a wheel out of balance
does it have a stabilizer
I had a 99 w/stabalizer no trouble on 2 sets of tires
got a 00 PSD had some vibration added a stabalizer and it went away

If he doesn't have to pull a major load or haul all sorts or heavy duty crap around, the PSD or the V-10 are to expensive. I for one am tired of hearing the gripes because someone chooses the V-8, it's their choice and their money.
I got the V-8 and after reading the mileage posts here, I'm getting better mileage than any of the V-10 owners. And that is without any modifications to the motor, exhaust, or electronics.
