PG. 36 "Tampering with noise control system prohibited"
"Federal law prohibits the following acts of the causing thereof:

I would read this to mean if my new '04 Ford did not have these devices which are stated in their own manual, my dealer would be adding these items really quick!
I dont have my manual here with me now , but i think when I read that section it was on vehicles over a certain weight, I think 10,000 lbs? I'd have to check to be sure.
I think Ford is hurting themselves by leaving those items off certain trucks. Taking features away is something people will remember, I for one will certainly remember them taking away pilot injection and leaving a defective item on our trucks instead of fixing it. take care, John
I went out and got my manual this morn, in the paragraph above the tampering statements it says the 1978 federal regulation governing the noise emissions on trucks over 10,000 lbs gvwr.
Looks like ford can take away the blankets on some models.
My truck was supposedly flashed before I bought it but i still have PI and good mileage. I havent found a recal sticker on the truck anywhere. I think they charged for the warranty flash but didnt do it, just a hunch though. Take care, John
