Engine Knock
Hello everyone, I was wondering if perhaps someone could give a bit of advice on a couple of problems I am having with a 2001 F-150 Crew cab. This all started about a week ago, when the catalytic converters were apparently clogged and had become red hot. Since then, the converters have been banged out as best as they could be, but now there are more problems. When you first start the truck, the oil pressure appears normal, but after it has been running for 15-30 seconds, the guage drops to no pressure. Also, at about mid throttle, there is a pronounced knock in the motor. The idle is someone rough as well. It has apparently shown no error codes that I know of. Any of this make any sense? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi DocGooden and welcome to the forum 
Your first step should probably be to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see what the pressure really is. The factory gauges arent very accurate.
How many miles on your truck? What size engine?

It's not my truck, so I don't know exactly how many miles are on it, but I estimate around 80k. I must have been too caught up in listing all the problems to mention that it is a 4.6 liter. I failed to mention as well that the oil pressure guage didn't malfunction before the converters were cleaned, and the knock wasn't there either. The rough idle obviously was though.
