work boots (redwing)

Hello

I am in need of a new pair of work boots. I was thinking of buying a pair of redwings. I just wanted to know who else wears them and if they are worth the money. I would also be interested in any other brands that any of you have been impressed with. I currently go through 1 pair of walmart boots per year.

Thanks for your help

You have any Fleet Farms up there? This is were I get my boots (Field & Forest). $70 will get you some of the best built boots around.

Hi cornfeed,

Buy your wife a pretty dress. Buy your boots at Wal-Mart. A pair of boots that last a year is all you can expect, even if they're Red Wings.

regards

i used to wear red wings and they hold up well for me . i do steel work so i burn the heck out of them by cutting and welding. i like carolina better tho' ( better comfort ) i got wolverines right now and they're ok. i wear 15 wide so all i can find is high priced boots... no walmart for me ... i wish i could find some there tho'... i found that all the boots i buy i give $120 - $150 for 'em and they only last me bout 5-7 months... BUT anyway i think reds are good boots

I've been wearing red wings for 20+ years. I can usually get about 2 years out of them. Alot depends on your work environment. If you do cement work they will not last as long. Where I work, they stay pretty oily.

I'm on my feet all day and wear Dr. Martens Industrials. I love 'em. My feet aren't tired at the end of the day.

I've also thought about trying some Redwings.
Right now I've got 2.5 years of fulltime use out of my Canada West Boots and they are still in decent shape. They have never been very comfortable though but until they finally wear out I really dont want to replace them. I've never had work boots last anywhere close to this long. Why is it that uncomfortable boots wont wear out???

I wont buy anything other than Redwing. They're a little more $, but the last pair I had I wore every day for 4 years before I finally wore them out. I bought em for work (factory), but once I broke them in I quit wearing all my other shoes/boots cause the Redwings were so much more comfortable.

red wings are a very comfortable boot, if you want a really tough work boot, check out Carolina Boots. their solls are nailed, glued and sewn on unlike timberlands and those cheap knock-offs that are just glued.

I have been wearing Red Wing boots for over 10+ years. They are the only boots I will buy. I would recommend them to anyone.

I agree with 100dolla68, Ido work in concret and I have had this same pair of Field Dex Carolina boots for the second year now.I have cuts in them but no cracks. All of the others I have tried crack and the soles crack to. I wade in and out of cement all of the time and they have held up the best xcept the insole in them slips. They are like walking on jelly kinda nice and soft.
