2000 7.3 PSD crew cab, door ajar light wont go out and all 4 doors are shut, I thought maybe the pin was stuck in, but I cant seem to find any, is there a switch inside the latch or something? Anyone who can tell me where the switch, or actuator for the switch is located, it would be very appreciated
I had the same problem with my 2001 X PSD. I used WD-40 but after a few weeks it happens again, so I used the oil that you use for like a swamp cooler. Its water resistant and doesn't evaporate over time.
I had same problem w/my '01 250 4x4. Took it to dealer under warranty and they ended up replacing passenger side switch. It took them several attempts to replicate the problem because mine only acted up intermittently. Other than that this truck has been awesome! I will drive 'till the wheels fall off!
I am working thru this right now. I have tried the WD-40 trick but no dice. I am going to pull the whole door panel and see whats actually in there. One other odd thing is my remote door lock will not operate right now either, but I guess if the switch isnt made it wont work anyway. Sorry for the wandering off there, but has anyone pulled this apart themselves and looked at the switching mechanism itself. Gets old with lights coming on when they want to and door buzzers going off just any old time.
I've had that problem and had to replace both of my switches on the both doors. I've got a '99 F-350 so didn't have any warranty to cover it. It's not too complicated to fix. Figure out what door is causing the problem. You have to take your door panel off and will probably have to take apart your door latch to make it the easier to get to. The door ajar switch is part of the latch and is on the back, bottom side of the latch, so it is kinda difficult to get to with the limited amount of space in the door. You can get a new switch at most parts stores or the Ford dealer. I got my from a local mechanic and he had visual directions on how to take it out, like you have to turn it clockwise to get it out, and counterclockwise to lock it back in. Once I replaced them both I haven't had a problem yet. If you have any more questions, ask. Good luck with fixing it, cuz it's an annoying problem to have.
