Helge,
I can't tell from your gallery if your truck still has the original suspension, but my guess is it does. Both of the Ebay items you referenced would require serious surgery to make them work on your 55 and even then I'm not sure that they would work. If your truck has the original suspension, I'd look at the Toyota 4x4 or 65-80 GM power steering conversion kit. Both are available through Sacramento Vintage Ford and others. Otherwise, the only other way to get power steering on your truck would be to change the front suspension.

Thank you GreatNorthWoods, do you have a webadress to any company like Sacramento?
I will try to take some pictures of the steering in my car, and place theme in my gallery.
I used the GM (Saginaw) power steering for many years. I just took it out so that I can repair the cracks in my frame caused by using this system. The geometry is incorrect for our frame design. It creates lateral torque that the frame can't handle. I'm now installing the Toyota system, which uses exactly the same geometry as the stock steering.

Thanks for the advise, do you have any picture of the toyota set,
that show the parts and how to install them?
One of our brothers has posted some good shots of his installation. Mine's not complete yet - still fabricating the gear mounting bracket to fit the gear between the frame and my 352 motor.
helge, another power steering option would be to use the ram style power steering which is bolt on if you have the original steering box and column assembly, much like the early mustangs, etc. Sacramento Vintage Ford has these setups.
I have a 1953 flathead f100 owned 8 years and still haven't got it on the road as of yet. looking to do so if the wife will allow me to spend the money. just looking for some ideas on things you've done and haven't to see what is good for my ute.
Im not a great mechanic when it comes to installing power steering units. I live in San Francisco. Do anyone know of a company or shop that do this kind of installation. Any lead will help.
