leaky oil plug

What can I do to stop an oil leak around the plug in the oil pan? It's about a quart every 1500 miles.

Get a new plug...seriously. It will come with a new washer (usually nylon) that should seal it up.

you can see if the home depot has a nylon washer too but the oil plugs are cheap like $5 at the dealer here so six in one half a dozen the other

Sometimes it is difficult to tell where oil is coming from. If you are sure it is the plug, and the threads are not stripped out, a new plug and washer should work. You might also check the pan bolts to see if they are loose. Fairly common problem.

Just a thought - while you are thinking about the new plug, a product like a SureDrain (from fram) or even a Fumoto valve may not be a bad idea.

My coworker swears by his SureDrain for clean and easy oil changes.

I agree, i've been using Fumotovalves for about 25 years. Whenever I buy a new vehicle it gets a Fumotovalve installed the first time that I change oil. Check out this link. www.fumotovalve.com
