i took my truck in to have a diagnostics test done because my check eng light is on.. turns out it needs a fuel pump and dpfe sensor.. dealership wants to charge me 685 bucks for them to do it.. yeah right. getting the parts for around 300 and doin it myself..
ok so i just had a friend change the dpfe sensor and now my check engine light is off, now im wondering if the fuel pump (ontop the engine) even needs changing?? hmmmmm how do u test it.... dang it, having a blonde moment here.. 99 ranger 4x4
You just need a fuel pressure gauge, connect it to the valve on the fuel rail, test it with the key on and with the engine running. What engine do you have, if its a 3.0 is it flex fuel.
What is 'flex fuel'? Are these the same 3.0L that were in so many Taurus? If they are maintained, how many miles can one expect them to go before a rebuild?
I'm looking at a '94 auto 2wd w/ 167000 miles. It's a very nice truck except for the mileage.
