Emmision problem
I live in maryland and have to put my 1995 F-250 through the emmision test every two years. I have a 460 cid. motor. It failed the nitogen test and all the others were elevated. My truck has always passed with flying colors. I took it back for a retest with hi test gas and ran it on the hiway for along time first. It still failed. The truck runs great. Does anyone have a sugestion or do I have to hook it up to a machine to find the problem.

My '92 4.9L F150 (123000 miles) failed emissions in 01/04. The catalytic converter was the problem. The local Ford House was able to run a chemical rinse through the exhaust and get the catalytic converter cleaned out enough to pass for another year. It took two rinses. After introduceing the chemical they ran it on the highway to blow it out. Emission levels went way down. That was a good thing because a new cat is expensive.
