I found what appears to be a leak at the front of my lower intake, driver's side. It's where the lower intake meets the head. It must not be and active leak, but it has leaked in the last 5k mi. I am not showing any loss of coolant in the resevoir, and I was changing plugs when I saw it. There was no evidence of burning antifreeze on the plugs, so I don't believe it's going into the cylinder, yet!!
Any other reports of newer 4.2's w/this problem???
Normal? Thats the first indication of the lower intake gaskets going bad! Your next sign will be cylinders filling with coolant.....well,you know the rest! I would get it fixed ASAP!
hmmm...seem to be having a related problem myself on my 98. Its got 105k miles on it. What do you guys recommend as the best name gasket to use to fix it. Go with stock ford or felpro or what? Thanks
Originally posted by true4.2 Mine has a VERY slow leak I think also. I have to put a couple of quarts of water in every few months. I almost think it's normal. ???
yeah i agree. Sometimes when sitting in traffic for a bit, my engine bursts into flames and melts my tires down to the ground, but when I start driving, I pop my hood and let the wind blow the fire out. Of course then the hood is in my way so i crash into the car in front of me which sets off both my air bags and burns my face half to death. This happens about once a week..........I think it's pretty normal also though
Ah, sarcasm is a wonderful thing!!!!!
I don't think anything leaking is normal, perhaps you could at least have the torque on those bolts checked, at least.
I have a very large custom PEZ Dispenser in the bed of my truck. It has a large Godzilla head on it. When I pull the head back (takes two people) a new airbag/steering wheel assembly pops out along with all the necessary hardware. The real problem lies in keeping the large plastic Godzilla head from fading in the Florida sun. This requires multiple coats of Meguires wax and frequent trips to the car wash. There's nothing worse than a large faded Godzilla PEZ Dispenser, let me tell you!!!
hmmm.... that would work, only I'd need more than maguires wax to keep it from fading down here in S. Texas. Couple of years ago they had to shut down the interstate...3 weeks over 110 apparently melted it. (No BS).
'Busa, you need to seek some counseling, but seriously, the "leak"has not leaked any fluid that I can tell. There is no loss of coolant in the resevoir, and no evidence of burning on the plugs, but I will fix it at the first opportunity. Right now I am chasing a p0401 code. I replaced the egr valve, butit still comes up. The solenoid is next to be replaced, maybe today.
'Busa I can help with that counseling if you need it. Appreciate all the comments though, sometimes we just need to lighten up and have fun.
Dude, you NEED to keep your darn burning crickets in the aquarium when your not using them. I found one in my freekin' soup last night. Normally I wouldn't mind, but they're too darn burnt and crunchy. I like my crickets a little more on the 'medium rare' side.
