hi everyone,
well i'm in a 4x4 club and i built myself a cheap way to wheel with parts i have so i built a off road truck, (exwifes old rig)hehehe. i used the chassis from a 78' bronco (exwifes) and put a 67' front half on it, and also built a flat bed for trail rides. well the last time i was out i was trying to bump up a muddy bank going up hill. and broke a outer stub axle. since then i've fixed it and also bought warn hub fuses. warn says that a hub fuse will break before a hub, axle and u-joint will? have any of you used them on your rigs and what do you think? i know it's kinda hard to build a offroad truck and have a weak link in it? any input would be nice ?
hello fellow orgonian, please visit www.pnwfs4x4s.com we would be delighted for you to join, it is a great club. ok now that im done pimpin my **** lets get to your question.
i dont like that idea at all, im sure you will be replacing those fuses often, you may just want to upgrade to a D60 if you are that hardcore though. other than that i would rather truck the D44 outers and chance the break......
please come see you club forum. i am from corvallis and we are slowly growing as a club. check it out!!....im also Idiomaticman on that board too
Seems to be that the general consensus on hub fuses is... Why create a weak link? I subscribe to the philosiphy of "Wheel it till' it breaks, then upgrade it."
