i have a 94 explorer. 4.0, auto, 4x4. first problem, the abs warning light comes on sometimes on start up and stays on while driving. next time i drive it it may not come on at all. second problem, sometimes at low speeds, backing out of parking space, or turning into a parking lot or driveway the brake petal pulsates and goes to the floor and makes a low grrrr..... sound. truck stops but i wonder when it won't. braking problem started after i had new rotors and pads put on front. I have taken it back to the shop that did the work but they can't find problem due to it not happening for them. not as concerned about abs light as i am sinking pedal. booster problem??? brakes need bled??? any info appreciated.
There are only two things that I know of that will cause the ABS light to come on while driving... wheel speed sensor, or the ABS actuator valve. Since this started after the rotors were replaced, I would be inclined to think it would be the wheel speed sensor(s) that are the cause. I don't know how you can check it yourself so I hope someone can jump in here.... let us know how you make out
Is it 2 wheel or 4 wheel antilock? Sounds more to me like a master cyl problem with the brake pedal fading. It could also be the antilock valve if it is 4 wheel abs.
